Partners is honored to be part of the generosity of this season! We are especially impressed with the thoughtfulness and giving spirit of the youth in our mentoring programs.
Earlier this month we hosted our Spark Holiday Joy Activity for kids in all our service areas. Nearly 200 youth and volunteers came together so our youth could create a list of gifts to give their loved ones, create a gift-giving budget, and go on a shopping trip with the gift cards provided by Partners. We then gathered for a wrapping party, complete with a delicious pancake breakfast and a festive atmosphere. All the kids were so proud of the gifts they picked and were eager to pass them to their loved ones. Our Spark Holiday Joy activity includes all the best elements of mentoring–the chance for youth to connect to a positive role model who helps them with a challenge, the opportunity to build life skills through budgeting and shopping, an occasion to practice social skills to enjoy a party, the chance to try a new activity and learn along the way. Truly, the opportunity for youth in our programs to be generous with gifts can be rare, which makes this activity all the more powerful for them.
